We are celebrating one year of having our sweet kitties, Smokey and Jenny this week. It’s hard to believe these big farm cats were once kittens tiny enough to get lost sleeping in our bathroom drawers! One Year with Smokey and Jenny Oh the panic that ensued that first week when a child on a midnight bathroom trip discovered both kittens missing from the bathroom where we kept them while litter box training. I could not figure out how they disappeared from the closed bathroom, but we turned very light in the house on and searched that house top to bottom. Both kittens were finally found, curled up tight and sound asleep in the back of a bathroom drawer. Somehow they got into the cabinet and then climbed up the back of the drawers until they found one to sleep in.

Jenny and Smokey turned into spunky and loving cats. All the forced love and constant handling with 6 children passing them around resulted in laid-back and loving cats. They’ve proven to be wonderful farm cats too, bringing all kinds of rodent trophies to the doorstep for approval. One Year with Smokey and Jenny

They aren’t just mousers, they are also part of the family. When we head out to work in the yard, barns, shop or pig pen the cats are right there underfoot- or in someone’s arms. One Year with Smokey and Jenny

We spend a lot of time outside, and that often results in very stinky work boots.  I found a great use for cat litter to help with our stinky, damp work boot problem. Check it out!Kitty Litter Deodorizer

Supplies:

Kitty Litter Deodorizer

  • Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze – This 42lb bag makes transporting, sealing and storing cat litter more convenient.
  • old tights or panty hose (or if your girls are funny about texture like mine, you might have brand new tights just hanging around sock drawers)
  • a quart jar
  • something to scoop the litter with (I used a smaller canning jar)

Directions:

Get Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze (only available from Sam’s Club). Sams Club

Cut the legs off a pair of tights or pantyhose. cut the legs a long as possible. You can always trim them later.Kitty Litter Deodorizer

Place the foot of the panty hose inside a quart jar, and put the leg around the mouth of the jar. This will keep the tube open and easy to fill.Kitty Litter Deodorizer

Fill the foot of the panty hose with kitty litter. You’ll want to gently shake the jar to help the kitty litter settle down. Keep filling and shaking until the foot of the tights are full. Kitty Litter Deodorizer

Tie a knot in the top of the leg. You can cut off some of the excess fabric now, but leave a good size tail to hang out of the top of the boot. Then you won’t have to stick your hand way down in the foot to retrieve the deodorizer!Kitty Litter Deodorizer

Place a pair of deodorizer tubes in your stinky boots or shoes. With the odor controlling” power of Febreze and a fresh lemongrass citrus scent those stinky boots are left with a fresh smell! Kitty Litter Deodorizer

With this post I got the opportunity to donate $100 to the ASPCA, an organization that helps get animals out of shelters and into homes, where they belong! One Year with Smokey and Jenny
