How to make Polar Bear Bookmarks

Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers or cardstock
  • Craft glue
  • Sharpie
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Template

Instructions:

Print out the polar bear hug bookmark template. Cut out all of the bookmark pattern pieces.

Choose thick white craft paper or white cardstock paper for the body and arm of the polar bear.

Use grey colored craft paper for the belly and the inner ear pieces; pink paper for the cheek blush, black for the nose and any color craft paper you’d like for the scarf piece.

Trace and cut out the pieces for your polar bear.

Cut a slit along the yellow line of the scarf piece.

Glue the nose in the middle of the polar bear’s head.

Glue the inner ear pieces in the middle of the ears.

Glue the blush cutouts (pink circles) on both cheeks.

Glue the grey belly piece in the middle of the polar bear’s body.

Apply glue along the sides of the polar bear’s shoulder and attach the arm to the bear’s body.

**Be sure to keep most of the arm free from glue, so your polar bear can “hug” your book’s page.

Trim the extra arm paper so that the arms align with the polar bear’s body, as shown below.

Use a marker or pen to draw the face of your polar bear.

Glue the scarf onto the polar bear by sliding the slit through the neck and applying glue to secure the scarf in place.

Slide your polar bear bookmark into your book to hold your place!
