The heat of summer has arrived full force in the south.
I love it! That heat promises days full of family splashing in whatever water we can find, evenings by the fire pit, games of tag, inviting friends over, and playing catch.
That extra heat and time together can also be a recipe for sibling bickering. When those tempers flare up on a hot day, I know it’s time for an icy treat to press pause on arguments, and cool little bodies and tempers.
A favorite summer-time dessert from my childhood is Double Chocolate Pound Cake. The rich chocolate cake is the perfect side to a scoop of ice cream. - 1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix
- 1 package (3.5 oz) instant chocolate pudding
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 6 oz. mini chocolate chips
- confectioner’s sugar (optional)
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
