How many times have you heard, “Mom, I’m bored!” this summer? While kids look forward to the freedom of summer, after a busy and structured school year, sometimes they struggle to keep themselves occupied in the long expanse of freedom that comes with summer. This summer, I’m stocking up on fun, brain boosting activities to pull out on those days when the kids get bored.

It is never easy when children get cooped up inside for days on end. Siblings begin to bicker, children get bored and act out, and things get broken due to inappropriate rambunctious play.
I know my children are much happier (and more pleasant to be around) when they can get outside every day.
Bitter cold winter and several days in a row of being cooped up inside makes for wild and irritable children. Often a few simple suggestions of activities from Mom can start a full afternoon of imaginative play. Since I work from home, I’m always looking for independent indoor activities for kids that will keep them happy and occupied on cold winter days.
