Activities

Family movie nights are a great way to bond with your kids and spend more time together as a family. However, sometimes we need a break from our screens to do something else for a while. If you are looking for a few fun family night ideas that don’t involve a screen, here are ten great ideas to get you started.

These 10 screen-free family night ideas are a great choice for at home family nights!

10 Great Family Night Ideas that Don’t Involve a Screen

Cook a Meal Together

Get everyone in the kitchen and make dinner, lunch, or even breakfast as a family. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, but this is a great way to teach your kids useful cooking skills and spend time together. You can make anything from frozen pizza to homemade spaghetti and meatballs.

Create Art Together

Gather up some paint supplies and do an art project together. You can even see who can make the best dolls, paper plate craft, or painting. It’s less about what you create and more than you are creating something.

Have a Family Game Night

Break out the board games and have an old-fashioned family game night! You might find a few hidden games you forgot you owned! If you don’t have many board games, you can also make your own!

Look Through Old Photo Albums

Break out the scrapbooks, photo albums, and anything else you want to look at together. This is a great way to share memories with your kids and even help them learn more about their childhood.

Go Camping in Your Living Room

If you can’t go on a real camping trip, why not go camping in your living room? You can roast s’ mores in the oven, tell stories by flashlight, and sleep in sleeping bags in a tent right in your living room.

Start a Family Book Club

Pick out a book together and take turns reading the book or listening to the audiobook during family book club night. If you need help finding books, check out your local library’s app for books you can download or Audible for audiobooks.

Have a Dance Party

Crank up some music and dance with your kids! This is a great way to burn some energy and have fun at the same time.

Do a Household Project Together

If you are in the middle of a kitchen remodel or even want to clear out a closet, why not do it together? Having a few extra hands can make things go faster and be more fun!

Build a Time Capsule

Gather up a few of your favorite things from the past year and make a time capsule! This is such a fun activity to do as a family and will make for an enjoyable future family night!

Have a Talent Show

Have everyone perform a talent in front of the family during family night! This is an excellent way for your kids to show off their talents, and you can have fun doing it too!

You don’t need a screen to have a fun family night! These ideas will keep you entertained and even help your family bond without a screen in sight.
