How to make Peeps Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

White chocolate– You can choose your favorite type of white chocolate here. We used white chocolate baking chips, but you can substitute an equal amount of white chocolate melting wafers.

Milk– We used our household milk which happens to be 1% milk. You an substitute your household milk, even if it is non-dairy!

Heavy Whipping Cream– This gives the hot chocolate an extra creamy flavor and texture. But, feel free to substitute regular milk or a non-dairy option here for a thinner hot chocolate.

Marshmallow Creme– This gives this Peeps hot chocolate such a yummy flavor! You can substitute marshmallow fluff successfully. In a pinch other substitution options would be whipped topping.

If you only have marshmallows on hand double the measurement of marshmallow creme- then melt the marshmallows in the microwave to make your own marshmallow creme.

Food coloring – Food coloring is completely optional for this hot chocolate, it simply makes it feel more festive. We used pink coloring for our hot chocolate, but you can use any color you like!

Peeps – Of course this Peeps Hot Chocolate wouldn’t be complete without Peeps! We used Peep chicks, but you can choose the color and type of Peep you prefer!

For even more fun, offer a variety of Peeps for kids to choose from when topping their hot cocoa!

Mini Marshmallows – These are optional for extra topping options.

Instructions:

First combine the white chocolate chips, milk, whipping cream and marshmallow cream in the cooking instrument of your choice.

You can use a slow cooker, a pot on the top of the stove, or a large microwave save bowl.

Next, warm the hot cocoa.

If using a slow cooker, cook on low for three hours, stirring occasionally. If cooking on the stovetop heat the cocoa slowly over medium-low heat, stirring often. If using the microwave, heat for one minute, then stir. Heat another minute and stir again. Then, continue heating and stirring in 30 second intervals until the hot chocolate reaches your desired temperature.

Just before serving add the food coloring and stir to mix.

Pour into mugs, and add a Peep to the top. You can also top with a handful of mini marshmallows.
