To take good care of my family I must first take care of myself. If I’m not healthy, then I’m not going to be the best Momma I can be. I think most Moms are hardwired to put everyone else first, and to take care of ourselves last, if there is time or energy left. I know I’m guilty!
Nature Made’s 30-Day Healthy Habit Builder is a really fun and effective way to choose a few manageable healthy habits to work on at a time. Usually it takes extreme exhaustion or an unexpected illness for me to remember that my own health and wellness need attention, but the fun challenge of the 30-Day healthy Habit Builder is helping me make small changes before I get run down.
My first goal this month is to get 5 hours of sleep a night. I’m guilty of working late into the night, falling into the bed in the wee hours, then relying on caffeine and sugar to get me through the day. I did pretty well turning the computer off by 1am the first week, thus getting a good 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night. But, last week I failed miserably when a big workload collided with a teething toddler. Hopefully I can get back on track next week.
My second goal is tied to the first. The new sugary and caffeinated drink habit I picked up this year to combat the exhaustion is not healthy at all. I must admit I’m not willing to give up the caffeine yet, but I am cutting back on the sugar. I’m down to one soda a day, and slowly cutting back on the amount of sweetner in my coffee.
Goal number three is simply eating three meals a day. I often skip breakfast, but I’m stopping to sit at the breakfast table and eat at least a yogurt or egg each morning while my children eat breakfast. I’m noticing a big difference in my morning energy already!
My final goal this month is to consistently take vitamins. This month I went to Walmart and chose several Nature Made vitamins tailored to my needs in this stage of life. As the nation’s #1 best-selling brand for quality vitamins, minerals and supplements, Nature Made allows me to customize my vitamin regimen based on my individual needs*. I definitely need help in the energy department, and I love Super B-Complex for that issue! I also find it very important to take Vitamin D during the winter months to support my immune system.
