How to Make a Jumbo Craft Stick Snail
Materials:
- Jumbo Wooden Craft Sticks, Jumbo – Dollar Store
- Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Store
- Craft Paint – Light Green & Pink
- Pink Chenille Stems, Pink – Dollar Store
- Craft Foam
- Buttons
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks (or your favorite craft glue)
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Permanent Marker
- Printed snail shell pattern.
Instructions:
Paint the front and sides of the jumbo craft sticks with light green craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Bend two chenille stems in half. (We used pink)
Glue the open ends of the folded chenille stems towards one side of the back of the jumbo craft stick Snail body, as shown below.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Attach a wiggle eye to the bend of both chenille stems with glue. (You could use glue dots)
Create cheeks by dipping a new pencil eraser into pink craft paint and stamping on either side of the face.
Download and print the Craft Stick Snail Pattern, then cut out with scissors.
Trace the Snail shell onto craft foam. (We used purple)
Cut out with scissors making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.
You could also use colored cardstock or craft felt instead of craft foam for this project.
Attach an assortment of small and colorful buttons to the Snail shell in a swirl pattern using glue.
If you do not have buttons, use rhinestones, pom poms, or even small dots from a paper punch.
Glue the completed Snail shell to the open end of jumbo craft stick body.
To finish, draw a smile with a permanent marker, or black paint, from cheek to cheek to create the Snail’s mouth.
