How to make a Felt Elf Ornament

List of Supplies:

  • Felt fabric
  • Thread and needle
  • Ribbon
  • Pencil or pen – for tracing the template
  • Pink highlighter pen
  • Scissors
  • Cotton
  • Template

Download and print out the elf template. Cut out all of the pattern pieces.

Trace the template patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut them out nicely.

Take the head cut out and stitch the eye cut outs onto the face.

Also stitch the lips of the elf using black thread (or any colored thread you prefer).

Stitch the two inner ear cut outs on the ears.

I also used pink highlighter pen to add blush patterns on both cheeks of the elf.

Grab all the cut outs and place them on your craft surface.

Lay the base cut out on a flat surface and place the head cut out on its place on the elf base.

Place the hat and the shirt cut outs on the base, overlapping the head.

Also place the belt and hat border cut outs on their places on the elf.

Remove the shirt piece from the base, with the belt pieces still on the shirt. Stitch the belt to the shirt by stitching an “x” in the middle of the belt buckle.

Pick up the elf’s head, with the hat and hat border on top of the head. Stitch the hat to the head by stitching a line through the hat border, the hat, and the head.

Now place the shirt pieces back on the body base, slightly overlapping the elf’s head.

Stitch along the overlapped part to attach the head and shirt together.

Place the base cut out on a surface and place the two shoe cut outs along the bottom end of the base.

Place the elf piece on the top of the base, keeping the shoe cut outs in the middle of the two pieces.

Prepare needle and thread to stitch around the sides of the elf to attach the base and the front part.

Keep a small opening to stuff the elf ornament with cotton.

Stuff the elf ornament with cotton through the small open end.

After stuffing the elf, stitch the open end to secure the stuffing.  Tie a knot and cut off extra thread after the stitching is done.

Happy crafting!
