How to make a Witch Gnome for Halloween

Materials:

  • Jumbo Craft Sticks
  • Cotton Mop Head
  • Wooden Ball or Bead
  • Yellow Craft Foam
  • Ribbon
  • Craft Paint in Muted Light Green, Black, and Orange
  • Glue Sticks or Craft Glue
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Gallon Zipper Bag
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush
  • Ruler
  • Witch Gnome Pattern

Instructions:

Gather all supplies. Cut approximately 30 individual strings from the cotton mop head with scissors. (You can use a thick yarn or craft rope if you prefer)

Get them damp under running water, squeeze the excess water out and place in a gallon zipper bag.

Squeeze orange craft paint into the bag, then zip it closed.

Squish the paint into the cotton mop strings until they are all coated.

Turn out the orange mop strings onto aluminum foil, and set aside to dry.

To create the witch’s hat, create an upside down “V” with two jumbo craft sticks on your work surface, and secure with a glue gun and glue sticks or your preferred craft glue.

Add additional jumbo craft sticks along the length of the hat and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Trim the long ends with scissors.

Flip hat over and glue one jumbo craft stick to the hat base to create the brim.

Paint the entire witch’s hat with black craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Paint the wooden bead with muted light green acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Flip the witch hat over and attach 15 cotton mop head strings along the base of the bottom wooden craft stick with a glue gun and glue sticks or your favorite craft glue.

Glue 15 additional cotton mop head strings on a second layer.

Glue the wooden ball to the top center of the witch’s beard, just under the hat brim.

Glue a ribbon (we used a thin purple gingham ribbon) around the witch’s hat as the hat band.

Download, Print and cut out the witch gnome pattern. Trace onto yellow craft foam with a pencil, and then cut out with scissors.

Glue the buckle to the center of the purple gingham ribbon.

Create this magical Witch Gnome to decorate your home this Halloween.
