How to Make a Hedgehog Paper Plate Craft

Materials:

  • Paper Plate
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Cardstock – Light Brown, Black & Pink
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Craft Glue or a Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors 
  • Pencil
  • Black Marker
  • Sponge Dabber (small)
  • Printed Pattern

Instructions:

Paint the inside of the paper plate with brown craft paint following the orca pattern. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Download and print the hedgehog patterns, then cut out with scissors.

Trace the hedgehog body once onto light brown cardstock, the nose once onto black cardstock, and the inner ears twice onto pink cardstock with a pencil.

Cut out the patterns with scissors.

Attach the inner ears, nose and two wiggle eyes with glue.

TIP: We used a glue gun and glue sticks for this craft tutorial.
You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Alternately, for less mess you can use glue dots or double sided tape.

Using the pattern, trace the arms and legs onto the hedgehog’s body with a pencil.

Draw a mouth under the hedgehog’s nose and ink in the arms and legs using a black marker.

Create cheeks by dipping a small sponge dabber into pink craft paint and stamping on either side of the nose.

Using scissors, cut a jagged and pointed pattern around the circumference of the brown paper plate.

To finish, attach the hedgehog’s body to the spikey outer layer with glue.
