These Patriotic Paper Fans are also great for decoration during patriotic holidays. Simply, leave the popsicle stick off of the craft and attach the paper fans to the wall, the door, or a window. They are also really cute hanging with fishing string from the ceiling to decorate for the 4th of July.

How to make a Patriotic Paper Fan Craft for 4th of July

List of Supplies

  • Colored craft papers
  • Printed template sheet
  • A pair of scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil –  to trace the template
  • Popsicle sticks

Instructions:

First we will make the folded fan part of the craft.

Select blue, red and white craft papers for the 4th of July paper fan craft.

The template includes the pattern for the center part of the paper fan.

Take a sheet of craft paper in the color you’d like your fan.

Cut the paper in half lengthwise.

Take one of the pieces you just cut and fold in in small accordion folds down the length of the paper.

Fold the other half of the paper in the same way.

Glue the two folded papers together to make one long accordion folded paper.

Glue the beginning and end of the long paper together to form a ring.

Press the top edges of the ring down as shown below.

Cut out a piece of round paper (you can trace the circle from the paper fan template) and glue it on the center of the flattened accordion folded paper. Allow the glue to dry.

Print off the patriotic fan template. Cut out the template pieces.

Choose the design you’d like on your fan.

Use glue and the cut out pieces to craft your fan details.

Turn the paper fan to the other side and glue the star pattern on the center of it.

Attach a popsicle stick on the backside of the paper fan to complete the craft.
