How to Make a Paper Plate Nativity Scene Craft

Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers
  • Pencil
  • Craft glue
  • A pair of scissors
  • Markers
  • Paper plate
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Printed template

Instructions:

Download and print out the paper plate nativity scene template.

Prepare the template patterns by printing and cutting them out.

Select a paper plate for the stable pattern and select colored craft papers for the template patterns.

Trace the template patterns on the selected papers and cut them out using scissors.

Let’s craft the paper Baby Jesus and the manger.

Glue the head cutout on the baby Jesus base cutout.

Glue the hay cutout along the top edge of the manger cutout.

Glue baby Jesus on the top edge of the manger.

Next, craft Mary’s figure.

Glue Mary’s head cutout to the front edge of her scarf cutout.

Glue the head piece on the top edge of Mary’s body base cutout.

Next, craft Joseph.

Glue the beard cutout on the bottom edge of the head cutout. Then, glue Joseph’s head to the front edge of his scarf cutout.

Glue the head piece onto Joseph’s body.

Use markers to draw outlines to the paper figures if you want to.

Select a paper plate and flatten it out.

Cut out a roof shape into the paper plate.

Apply brown paint to draw the stable pattern on the prepared paper plate. You could also complete this step with a brown marker instead of paint.

Allow the paint to dry completely. Color in the inside of the stable with a lighter brown marker or paint, if desired.

Glue the star pieces together.

Glue the star to the top of the stable.

Glue the manger in the middle of the stable, then glue Mary and Joseph on either side of baby Jesus.
