How to Make a Craft Stick Popcorn Bucket

Materials:

  • Jumbo Craft Sticks
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Craft Glue or a Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Craft Paint – White & Red
  • Craft Felt – White, Cream, Tan, & Light Pink
  • Black Letter Stickers
  • White Cardstock
  • Recycled Cardboard (cereal or cracker box)
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush
  • Black Marker
  • Popcorn Pattern

Instructions:

Paint three craft sticks with white craft paint, and four craft sticks with red craft paint.

Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. 

To create the popcorn box, flip the painted craft sticks over, alternating red and white.

Trim additional craft sticks to width and attach with glue.

Flip the craft back over.

Download, print, and cut out the Popcorn Box Patterns.

Trace the popcorn kernels onto white (2 times), cream (4 times), and tan (2 times) craft felt. 

Cut out the popcorn kernel patterns with scissors. 

Place a small dot of hot glue onto a bottom edge of each popcorn kernel then gather and pinch to create dimension.

Trace the popcorn base onto a piece of recycled cardboard box with a marker.

Cut the popcorn base pattern out with scissors.

Attach the cardboard popcorn base onto the top edge of the popcorn box with glue.

Attach the two tan and two white popcorn kernels to the cardboard base with glue.

Layer and glue the four cream popcorn kernels on top, covering up all of the cardboard.

To mimic the shape of the popcorn box, trim the left and right edges at a diagonal with scissors. If necessary, paint the cut edges with red acrylic craft paint and let dry.

Trace and cut out two cheek patterns from light pink craft felt.

Attach the cheeks and two wiggle eyes to the craft stick popcorn box with glue.

Draw a smile from cheek to cheek with a black marker.

Trace the word bubble onto white cardstock with a black marker.

Cut out the word bubble with scissors, leaving the black outline intact.

Add the POP! Letter stickers to the inside of the word bubble.

Attach the word bubble to the popcorn box with glue.
