When Sick Gets Real…
It’s that time of year, when colds roll through our household. With 6 kids, shaking a cold can take a long time. When we catch just one cold a month, it can begin to feel like we’ve been sick all spring!
The last cold my kids caught, really knocked them down; running noses, a hacking cough, sore throats, and body aches. I often let a slight cold run it’s course, but when one comes along and the symptoms have my kids feeling really rotten, or missing needed sleep due to cough and congestion, that’s when I break the medicine out.
I’m glad Target has a great variety of medicines for children. Thanks to a box full of options, I managed to treat each child’s individual symptoms during a bad cold. Especially with more than one child at home and taking different types of medicine it’s easy to get confused about dosage. I always remember to read the warnings and dosing information before giving my children a dose of medication. I often keep a list with each child’s name, weight and what medication she received at what time so I don’t get mixed up.
Children’s Advil® eases my kids aches and pains while reducing their fevers fast. I use it for all my kids, since the youngest is 2 now. Children’s Advil® comes in several yummy flavors: Sugar-free Dye-free Berry, Bubble Gum, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit and Dye-Free White Grape flavors.
Since my girls share a room, nighttime coughing can be a big problem. Not only is the sick child not getting the rest she needs, but her sisters also sleep poorly. I know the likelihood of more children going down with a sickness is much higher when they aren’t rested.
The Children’s Robitussin® DM Day/Night Pack with Children’s Robitussin® Cough & Chest Congestion and Children’s Robitussin® Nighttime Cough, is a great choice for both a non-drowsy daytime formula which helps break up chest congestion and a long-acting nighttime formula for relieving coughs and runny noses so my children can get a good night’s rest.
Children’s Dimetapp® Cold & Cough fights stuffy and runny noses, and working to relieve cough.
I hope sickness doesn’t find your family this spring, but if it does check out #SickJustGotReal for some great tips. You can also connect with Sick Just Got Real on Facebook.

Hi Amanda,
Awww poor cute ones! Spring doesn’t bring only flu but allergies as well. I hope your little ones will get better soon!

I really don’t like giving my kids meds unless they absolutely need it. I do give them Dimetapp when needed.
They are so cute! I get it about how it seems endless this time of year. We’re just getting over yet another bad round.
I am with you, I have 5 kids, 6 next month and when one kid gets sick they all get it. It does linger for weeks and the products you use so do we and it helps shorten the cold!
We are all currently fighting allergies. It’s tough being sick especially when it’s the kids.
It is no fun with babies get sick. Well heck it is no fun when dads get sick either. Glad they are feeling better.
Drinking herbal tea with a teaspoon of coconut oil in it usually helps. Hopefully the ‘cold’ season is not to bad this year.
We’re dealing with two sick kids right now. These are all brands I keep stock in my medicine cabinet for days like this!
It’s always hard to see the littles sick and not feeling their best. It looks like you are well prepared.
We are always sure to keep Pfizer products on hand for the ‘just in case.’ They def. always come in handy!
Well it certainly has been a year full of sickness. My grandkids have just been passing it back and forth from home to daycare and back. You need all the help you can to get them feeling better.
It is important to find remedies that help cut down on the misery children have when they are sick. This is especially important when you have multiple children in the house.
It is not fun when the kids get sick. Glad they are feeling better!
That’s really smart to record dosages and when they were given. It’s also nice to have on hand for doctors.
I hate it when my kids got sick. I just had my 4yr old come down with pneumonia and it was the worst 2 weeks of my life. I always keep children’s advil on hand.
My mom has always said that the worst thing about being a mom is when your kids get sick – every time my kids are sick I hear her in my head saying that. These are great items to have on hand for our littles!
Wow, six! I hate when the kids are sick. Target is so close to us, so that’s our go-to quick shop! Cutie pies!
We love Children’s Advil! It is the best and the flavor is the only one my kids will tolerate.
