How to make a Angel Gnome DIY Christmas Ornament with Felt

List of Supplies:

  • Felt fabrics
  • Needle and thread
  • Thin ribbon
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • A pair of scissors
  • Cotton batting or scrap felt
  • Template

Instructions:

Print out the angel gnome template and cut out all of the template pieces.

Select light colored felt fabrics for the angel gnome ornament. We’re using white for the wings, base and beard; light blue for the clothes and hat; pink for the nose and yellow for the halo piece. You can choose which ever colors you’d prefer for your angel.

Trace and cut out the patterns from the selected felt fabrics.

Take the clothes, beard and nose cutouts. Place the beard cutout on the top edge of the robe cutout and then place the nose near the top center of the beard.

Stitch along the top edge of the nose to join it with the beard and the clothes. Only 3 or 4 stitches along the top of the nose should do.

Place the base cutout on a flat surface and then place the wing cutouts on either side of the base, slightly overlapping the pieces.

Place the lower body piece (the clothes, beard and nose) on the bottom part of the base piece, keeping the wing cutouts between the base and the lower body piece.

Use a matching thread to stitch around the sides and the bottom side of the lower body pattern with the base pattern. Keep the top edge open for now.

Use cotton batting or scrap felt to stuff the felt gnome body through the open end.

Once you’re done stuffing the bottom of the gnome, place the hat cutout on the top part of the base slightly overlapping the hat with the nose and beard.

Stitch the bottom edge of the hat with the top edge of the lower body piece.

Place the Halo cutout between the base and hat patterns, on the top.

Now, stitch around the sides of the hat pattern connecting it to the base. Keep a small opening to stuff the hat part of the felt gnome.

Stuff through the opening, then stitch closed the opening.

Cut out piece of ribbon and make a loop with it. Attach the ribbon loop with the gnome ornament on the backside.
