Then melt your marshmallows and color the melted marshmallow with green gel food coloring.

Add the rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture and mix well.

Now, make the Christmas tree shape. Make a 3 inch ball with the rice crispy treats and then shape the ball into a cone. Press the cone down on to the baking sheet to create a flat base.

While the rice crispy treat is still sticky, sprinkle the tree with colorful sprinkles.

Create stars out of the yellow fondant. To create one star, roll out a sphere a little less than half an inch in diameter. Press down slightly in the center and as it flattens, pinch out 5 corners to give it the shape of a star.

Press one star at the top of each rice cereal treat. Allow to set and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 3-4 tbsp butter
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows
  • Kelly green gel food coloring
  • 5 cups rice cereal
  • Colorful nonpareils sprinkles
  • 2-3 oz. yellow rolling fondant

Instructions

Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then add marshmallows.

Stir marshmallows constantly with a wooden spoon until completely melted.

Once marshmallow mixture is completely melted, remove from heat. Add 2 small drops of Kelly green gel food coloring. Mix until completely tinted.

Add cereal treats to the saucepan and fold until rice cereal is well-incorporated.

Mold rice cereal treats into 3D trees. To do this, form a 3 inch sphere with the green rice cereal treats then start molding it into a cone. To give it a flat base so that it stands on its own, press it down on the lined baking sheet.

Sprinkle each tree with colorful nonpareils while it’s still sticky.

Create star shapes out of the yellow fondant. To create one star, roll out a sphere a little less than half an inch in diameter. Press down slightly in the center and as it flattens, pinch out 5 corners to give it the shape of a star.

Press one star at the top of each rice cereal treat. Allow to set and enjoy!
