How to Make a Folded Paper Angel Ornament

List of Supplies

  • Colored craft papers
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Large round bead – 2cm
  • String or yarn

Instructions:

Select medium thick colored craft paper for this craft. Cut 2 pieces of craft paper into 3” x 6” rectangles.

Also cut a 3 inch long string or yarn and choose a 2cm round bead for the head.

Take one of the paper cutouts and fold it in half, lengthwise.

Fold it in half again.

Fold it in half 2 more times.

Unfold the entire paper.

Use the creases as guides to make accordion folds across the paper.

Make a fold one third of the way down the accordion folded paper. The short end will be the wing of the angel ornament.

Repeat the steps on the second rectangular piece of paper.

Glue the two folded pieces together as shown below.

We made our angel ornament using half of a wooden bead as head. The following steps will show how to make the ornament in that manner.

Alternatively, you can glue a piece of yarn or string in a loop between the two parts of the angels body. Then slide a bead down the loop to create the angel’s head. Add a drop of glue or tie a knot to secure the bead on the ornament.

To use half a bead as the angel’s head follow the steps below.

Cut a 1cm x 2 cm piece of paper and attach half of it to the top, back end of the angel pattern.

Take the string and make a loop with it. Attach its open ends to the 1 cm x 2 cm strip attached to the angel pattern.

Cut the round wooden bead in half and attach its flat side to the strip, covering the open ends of the loop.

Making your own DIY angel Christmas tree ornament is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the season. Whether you hang them on your tree, give them as gifts, or use them to decorate holiday packages, these angels will add a special handmade touch to your Christmas celebrations.
