How to make a St. Patrick’s Day Gnome craft
List of Supplies:
- Felt Fabrics
- Needle
- Matching threads
- Pencil or fabric maker – to trace the template
- Cotton batting or scrap felt
- A pair of scissors
- Template
Instructions:
Download and print the leprechaun gnome template. Cut out all the pattern pieces.
Select felt fabrics of your choice for the gnome. Trace and cut out the felt pieces.
Place the shamrock cutout on the hat cutout.
Place the head cutout on the top part of the dress cutout and then place the nose cutout near the top part of the head.
Use matching thread to stitch the shamrock on to the hat.
Stitch the nose, head and dress cutouts together by making 3 or 4 stitches on the top edge of the nose.
Also stitch the round side of the head to the dress.
Take the base and the hat pieces. Place the hat on the hat part of the base cutout.
Stitch the outside edges of the hat to the base to join them. Keep the bottom edge of the hat open for now.
Place the braid cutouts on both sides of the face.
Place the lower body on the bottom part of the base and tuck the top edge of the lower body under the edge of the hat. They should overlap each other slightly.
Lift the front of the gnome off of the base slightly. Use thread that matches the hat to stitch along the overlapped edge to connect the hat to the lower body part. Make sure not to stitch through the base. Use scrap felt or cotton batting to stuff the hat section.
Begin stitching one side of the dress to the base.
When you reach the bottom edged, stop and place the shoe cutouts between the base and lower body layers.
Stitch the bottom edge to connect the base, shirt, and shoes together. Continue stitching around the gnome, leaving an opening for stuffing.
Stuff the gnome and close the open edge to finish the gnome’s body.
When the stuffing is done, close the open end. Tie a knot or two and cut off extra thread.
Stitch the gold coin to the gold pot cutout and then stitch it onto the gnome to complete the craft.
