Paint a line down the center of the Ladybug with black craft paint. If working with younger kids, you could use a black marker.

Attach a variety of shapes and sizes of black buttons to the Ladybug body as the spots. (use your favorite type of craft glue)

Bend the black chenille stem in half, then curl the ends into a swirl to create antennae. Attach to the back top center of the Ladybug with glue.

Flip your ladybug over! All done!

Tips and Tricks

  • Pre-glue the base: For younger children, consider pre-gluing the craft stick base to save time and avoid frustration.
  • Use markers instead of paint: If you’re short on time or want a less messy option, markers work wonderfully to color the craft sticks.
  • Switch up the dots: Instead of buttons, you can use paint dots, marker dots, pompoms, or sequins to create the ladybug’s signature spots.
  • Change the color: Who says ladybugs have to be red? Experiment with fun colors like pink, purple, or blue to create unique insects.

The craft stick ladybug craft is a delightful way to spark creativity and bring a smile to any child’s face. Whether you’re using it as a popsicle stick craft for preschool, a spring craft, or a summer camp activity, this easy project is sure to be a hit.
