How to Make a Watermelon with Craft Sticks

Materials:
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Wiggle Eyes
- Craft Glue or a Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Craft Paint – Dark Pink, Light Pink, Light Green, & Dark Green
- Scissors
- Paintbrush
- Black Marker, Black
- Pencil
Instructions:
To create the watermelon, create a triangle with three jumbo craft sticks on your work surface, and secure at the corners glue.
*We used a glue gun and glue sticks for this tutorial, but you can use liquid craft glue for this project. Just allow for drying time between steps.
Fit additional jumbo craft sticks along the length of the triangle and mark with a pencil.
Trim the ends of the jumbo craft sticks with scissors.
Attach the trimmed jumbo craft sticks to the back of the watermelon with glue.
Paint the watermelon rind with light green craft paint and the watermelon fruit with dark pink craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Attach two wiggle eyes with glue.
Create cheeks by dipping a new pencil eraser into pink craft paint and stamping on both sides of the watermelon.
Draw a smile from cheek to cheek with a black marker.
To create the watermelon seeds, draw small tear drop shapes with a black marker all over the surface.
Using a paintbrush, add wavy lines to the watermelon rind with dark green craft paint. Let dry.
