How to Make a Candy Dome Peacock Party Favor
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR PEACOCK:
- One 8.5” x 11” sheet of blue cardstock (for the candy dispensing mechanism)
- One 8.5” x 11” sheet of yellow cardstock (for the feet and beak)
- One sheet of glitter cardstock in each of blue, green, purple, and gold
- One 60mm plastic ornament
- One paper fastener
- Two wiggle craft eyes (3/8-inch)
- Printed pattern
ALSO NEEDED:
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Candy to fill the dispenser
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PEACOCK:

- Print pattern page 1 onto blue cardstock, and pattern page 2 onto yellow cardstock.
- Cut out each of the pattern pieces. Note: You do not need pattern pieces #7 and #8 to make the peacock. For added strength, if using a lightweight cardstock (65 lbs or less), you can optionally cut out the two copies of pattern piece #1 and glue them together using a glue stick. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the center of pieces #1 and #2.
- Use pattern pieces #4-#6 as stencils, drawing around them onto the back side of the glitter cardstock. Cut the pattern pieces out of the glitter cardstock. To make the peacock as shown, pieces #4 and #5 should be cut from blue glitter cardstock, and piece #6 from green glitter cardstock. Small hearts and circles, used for decorating the tail, can optionally be traced and cut out using the pattern pieces provided (#11) or punched out using small craft punches.
- Use a paper fastener to connect pieces #1 and #2. Fold the arms of the paper fastener flat, and secure them in place with a small piece of tape. To hide the arms of the paper fastener, glue piece #3 on top, taking care to align the pieces so you do not cover the dispenser hole.
- Attach the half-dome plastic ornament to the cardstock dispenser mechanism using hot glue.
- Use hot glue to attach piece #4 in place.
- Glue circle and heart-shaped cardstock pieces onto tail piece #6 to decorate the peacock tail.
- Attach the tail to the candy dome using hot glue.
- Create the peacock body, using hot glue to attach the eyes, beak, and feet.
- Attach the peacock body to the ornament using hot glue.
- Turn over the ornament and fill it with candy. Close the dispenser.
