DIY Rocking Pirate Ship Craft

Are your kids into all things pirates? I know my son is! This super fun pirate ship craft actually rocks, so your child can play with the pirate ship after crafting.

How to make a Moving Pirate Ship Craft

List of Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers
  • Colored cardstock paper
  • Pencil
  • Markers
  • Craft glue
  • A pair of scissors
  • Printed pirate ship template

Instructions:

Download and print out the rocking pirate ship template. Cut out the pattern pieces.

For the circle ship piece and the sail post be sure to select a sturdy cardstock paper.

Select colored craft papers for the rest of the patterns.

Trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers and cut them out nicely.

Use a marker to add striped textures to the sail cutout.

Glue the flag cutout to the post.

Glue the sail cutout to the post, just below the flag.

Glue the bandana cutout to the pirate cutout.

Take the ship base cutout and fold it in half.

Unfold the base and glue the bowand stern cutouts to the inside of the circle as shown below.

Fold the ship base in half again.

Glue the window cutouts to the front side of the ship.

Glue the 2 strip cutouts to the ship, along the top and bottom of the windows.

Glue the anchor cutout to the ship.

Glue the sail post to the ship, on the closed side. Use markers to add details to the pirate.

Attach the paper pirate figure to the ship to complete the rocking pirate ship craft.

*Be sure to place the anchor and the pirate on different sides of the ship to keep the ship balanced for smooth rocking.
