How to make a Felt Snow Globe Ornament

List of Supplies:

  • Felt fabrics
  • Needle
  • Matching thread
  • Fabric marker or pencil
  • Seed beads
  • Ribbon
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the snow globe ornament pattern. You’ll find pattern pieces for two different sizes of the Snow Globe ornament. Choose which size you’d like to make, then cut out the pattern pieces.

Choose felt fabrics for the snow globe ornament.

Trace the template patterns on the felt fabrics and cut the pieces out of the felt.

Take the tree patterns with include the small rectangle and 4 layers of tree.

Lay the rectangle piece on a flat surface, vertically.

Place the largest layer of tree leaves at the bottom edge of the rectangle, as shown below.

Stitch the first tree layer cutout to the rectangle base cutout.

Place the medium and small tree layer cutouts on the rectangle base one by one; and stitch them to the base.

Finally, stitch the smallest white layer on the top of the tree for a snow capped look.

Take the circular cutout, which is the snow globe glass, and place the large snow layer along the bottom edge of the glass.

Place the smaller snow layer along the bottom edge of the larger snow layer.

Place the 3 layers (glass and two layers of snow) onto the snow globe base.

Use white thread to stitch the snow globe glass and the 2 snow layers to the snow globe base around the outside edge of the glass.

Grab a few seed beads and start adding them onto the glass layer.

Stitch as many seed beads as you like onto the glass layer to make a snow fall effect on your ornament.

Arrange the house cutouts to make the house piece.

Stitch the house together.

Place the house and tree pieces onto the snow globe, then and stitch them onto the snow globe.

Next, stitch the lower part of the base onto the bottom of the snow globe.

Attach a ribbon loop on the backside of the felt snowglobe with craft glue or a few stitches.

You can also attach ribbon bow to the bottom part of the snow globe ornament.
