How to Make a Felt Teacup Bookmark

List of Supplies

  • Felt fabrics
  • A pair of scissors
  • Yarn or ribbon
  • Needle
  • Matching threads
  • Fabric chalk or marker
  • Printed pattern template

Instructions:

Download and print out the felt teacup template.

Prepare the template patterns by printing and cutting them out.

Select different colored felt fabrics for the bookmark.

Trace the patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut them out using scissors.

Take one of the teabag tag and place a leaf cutout on it.

Take the front part of the teacup and place the flower patterns on it.

Prepare needles with matching threads for the leaf and the flower.

Stitch the center of the flower around the border and then place the leaf cutouts under the flower around the sides.

Stitch the leaf patterns along the middle to connect the piece to the teacup. (Keep the flower petals free, stitching them won’t be necessary.)

Stitch the leaf on the teabag tag around the edges.

Prepare a strand of yarn, felt or ribbon to your desired length.

Take the other teabag tag and place an inch of the yarn or ribbon on it as shown below.

Place the stitched teabag tag on the top of the plain one, keeping the yarn or ribbon between them.

Stitch both handles around the outside edges, making sure to stitch through the yarn or ribbon as well.

Take the back teacup piece and place the cup handle on a side, slightly overlapping the open ends of the handle over the teacup base.

Place the tea piece near the top edge of the teacup.

Place the front of the teacup on the top of the other teacup.

Stitch the teacup pieces together around the outside edges.

Keep the top part of the teacups open for now.

Take the ribbon or yarn and insert it between the tea and teacup layers.

Stitch the tea to the teacup along the top edge, making sure to stitch the yarn or ribbon with it.

Place the ribbon between the pages of a book to use as a bookmark.
