To create each Fire Cracker base, line up three jumbo craft sticks on your work surface.

Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of fire cracker and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. Repeat two more times to make three fire crackers.

Paint the front and sides of the first fire cracker with white craft paint and the second with blue craft paint.

Paint the top two inches of the third fire cracker with blue craft paint, then paint the right and left craft sticks with red craft paint, and the center craft stick with white craft paint.

Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Accent the white fire cracker with diagonal stripes created with red and blue craft paint, using the width of your paintbrush.

Create a polka dot pattern on the blue fire cracker by dipping a round sponge applicator into white craft paint and bouncing it onto the surface. Repeat with red craft paint.

Paint a wood star shape with white craft paint. Once dry, apply a layer of silver glitter glue. (You can also use a foam star)

Embellish the striped fire cracker with lines of silver glitter glue.
Embellish the polka dot fire cracker with stars and smaller dots created with silver glitter glue.
Set aside to dry.

Attach the silver glitter star to the blue section of the flag inspired fire cracker with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Measure and cut one 12” silver tinsel chenille stem into three sections that are 4” long each.

Bend each section in half and attach to the top back of each fire cracker with a glue gun and glue sticks. These become the fire cracker fuse.

Download and print the fireworks pattern.

Cut out patterns with scissors. Using a pencil, trace the large flame onto yellow craft foam twice, and orange craft foam once.

Trace the small flame one yellow craft foam once and orange craft foam twice.

Cut out all patterns with scissors.

To finish, glue the large flames to the back of the fuse and the small flames on top using a glue gun and glue sticks.

You can also use construction paper, colored cardstock, or craft felt for this project.
