How to Make a Giraffe with Craft Sticks
Materials:
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Wiggle Eyes
- Craft Felt – Tan, Brown, Gold
- Black Marker
- Craft Glue or a Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Acrylic Craft Paint – Gold, Brown
- Paintbrush
- Sponge Dabber
- Scissors
- Printed Giraffe Pattern
Instructions:
To create the giraffe, line up five jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the giraffe and attach with glue.
TIP: We used a glue gun and glue sticks for this tutorial. But, you can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Paint the giraffe with gold or yellow craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Download, print, and cut out the giraffe patterns.
Trace the outer ears onto gold or yellow craft felt, trace the horns onto brown craft felt, trace the inner ears, and nose onto tan craft felt. Cut out all patterns with scissors.
Attach two wiggle eyes with glue. Glue the ears to the right and left sides, the horns in between the ears, and the nose to the bottom of the giraffe.
Add spots to the giraffe by dipping a sponge dabber into brown acrylic craft paint and stamping randomly over the surface.
To finish, draw two oval nostrils on the nose with a black marker.
