How to Make a Paper Plate Llama Craft

Materials:

  • Paper Plate
  • Jumbo Craft Sticks
  • Wiggle Eye
  • Chenille Stem – we used purple
  • Pom Poms
  • Craft Paint – we used orange, pink, yellow, blue, & white
  • White Cardstock
  • Craft Glue and a Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Pencil with new eraser
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors 
  • Black Marker
  • Printed Paper Plate Llama Pattern

Instructions:

Paint three half circle stripes in the center of the paper plate using the colors of your choice. We used yellow, blue, and orange craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Fold the paper plate in half and score firmly, then cut in half with scissors.

Paint two jumbo craft sticks with white craft paint. Let dry, and then cut in half with scissors.

Download and print the Llama Pattern, then cut out with scissors.

Trace the head and neck onto the white cardstock.

Cut out the head and neck pattern with scissors.

Attach one wiggle eye to the llama face with glue. Create a cheek by dipping a new pencil eraser into pink craft paint and stamping on the face. Paint the center of the ears with pink craft paint.

Wrap a chenille stem around the llama’s neck, secure both ends on the back with glue.

Attach two assorted pom poms to each layer of the chenille stem with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Glue assorted pom poms to the bottom edge of the bottom stripe.

Attach the llama head and neck to the llama body with glue. Glue a white pom pom onto the llama’s body as the tail. Adhere the four craft stick halves to the bottom of the llama’s body as the legs.

To finish, draw a heart-shaped nose and smile with a black marker.
