How to make a Gnome Leprechaun Pop Up Card for St. Patrick’s Day

List of Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers
  • Cardstock paper
  • Embossed paper
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • Craft glue
  • A pair of scissors
  • Marker
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the leprechaun card template. Cut out all of the template pieces.

Select colored craft papers for the rainbow, gnome, and pot of gold patterns and also select white embossed paper for the cloud pattern.

Trace and cut out the rainbow layers.

Begin attaching the rainbow together by glueing each of the rainbow layers onto its immediate bigger layer.

Now, finish creating the rainbow by attaching the 3 pairs of layers (big, medium and small) together to complete the paper rainbow.

Trace the pot, cloud and gold coin pattern pieces onto papers. Use an embossed or textured white paper for the cloud if you have any.

Cut a slit along the top side of the pot, where the yellow line is on the template.

Glue the gold coin cutouts halfway through the pot’s slit.

Glue the clouds together.

Trace the gnome pattern pieces on the craft papers you selected. Cut the pieces out of the colored papers.

Glue the mustache cutout along the top edge of the beard cutout and then glue the beard near the top edge of the gnome’s body cutout.

Attach the nose cutout in the middle of the mustache.

Attach the shamrock cutouts on the hat cutout.

Attach the hat at the top of the gnome’s body to complete the gnome piece.

Make a card using heavy cardstock paper, or use a blank pre-made card.

Cut out 2 cardstock strips about 1/2 an inch wide to make the pop up tabs for the rainbow.

Fold about 1/4 inch on one side of each strip. Fold about an inch up on the other side of each strip.

Open the blank card. Glue the larger folded side to the bottom flap of the blank card and glue the smaller folded side to the top flap of the card. See the photo below for placement.

Glue the rainbow to the tabs, leaving about an inch showing of the tab below the rainbow. (See below)

Prepare another short cardstock strip to make a tab for the gnome. Fold one end in about 1/4 an inch, and glue it to the top flap of the card, under the rainbow. Be sure the strip sticks out past the rainbow, then fold it to create a flap for the gnome.

Glue the tab onto the card as shown below.

Attach the paper gnome on the tab you just created.

Glue the cloud on to one side of the rainbow, covering the rest of the tab. Then glue the pot of gold on the other side in the same way.

Glue the strip of grass onto the gnome.

Now, write a cute St. Patrick’s Day note and give this adorable Gnome Leprechaun Pop Up Card to a friend!
