How to make a Reindeer Gnome Ornament

List of Supplies:

  • Felt fabrics
  • Needle and thread
  • Thin ribbon
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • A pair of scissors
  • Cotton batting or scrap felt
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the reindeer gnome template. Cut out all of the template pieces.

Select 2 or 3 different shades of brown colored felt fabrics along with red for the reindeer gnome ornament craft. We’re using light brown for the base, body, hat border and hat, dark brown for the shoes and antlers, red for the nose and grey for the beard. You can change up the colors any way you’d like!

Trace and cut out the patterns from the selected felt fabrics.

Take the body cutout, beard cutout and the nose cutout. Place the beard cutout on the top edge of the body cutout then, place the nose cutout near the top center of the beard.

Stitch the top end of the nose with just a few stitches to connect it to the beard and the body cutouts.

Take the hat, hat border and the horn cutouts.

Place the horn cutouts on both sides of the hat cutout, keeping the branches of the antlers sticking up.

Now, place the border cutout along the bottom edge of the hat cutout, overlapping the bottom of the antlers.

Stitch the border of the hat, along the sides and top edge to connect the pieces together.

Place the base cutout on a flat surface and then place the shoe cutouts on the bottom edge of the base.

Place the lower body piece on the bottom part of the base, keeping the shoe cutouts between the base and the lower body piece.

Stitch around the sides and bottom of the lower body to connect it to the base, leaving the top edge unstitched. Use cotton batting or scrap felt to stuff the gnome’s body through the open edge.

Place the hat piece on the top part of the base, slightly overlapping the top edge of the beard and nose.

Begin stitching around the gnome’s hat, leaving a small opening to stuff the rest of the gnome.

Finish stuffing the gnome with cotton batting or scrap felt before completing the stitching around the hat.

Reindeer Gnome Steps

Once the stuffing of the felt gnome reindeer is done, stitch the open end to secure the stuffing inside the gnome.

Cut out a small piece of satin ribbon and make a loop with it. Attach the ribbon loop with the gnome ornament on the back side of the gnome.
