As the new year begins, many of us are focused on health and wellness goals for both ourselves and for our families.

Being fit and healthy is a universal NYE goal, but as a mom that means so much more. Sick children are no fun, and having a sick mommy is hard on a household. When mom is sick, everything goes down hill. The house gets filthy, no one can find any thing to eat or any clean clothes to wear. Who’s going to drive the kids to all their activities? Families just don’t function well with a sick Mom!

We’ve got to do our best to keep all the yucky illness that float around from NYE through spring out of our homes!

As a mom of many, I’ve learned that the best way to ensure that my family stays as healthy as possible, especially during this time of year, is to be proactive about wellness.

The time to worry about our heath is long before the first virus of the new year finds us!

Here are my best tips to support your health in the new year.

Help your family develop habits that will keep germs at bay.

Encourage frequent hand washing. Remind the whole family that washing hands is one of the best way to prevent germs spreading! Tell your kids to wash hands not only after using the bathroom, but also after touching objects that a lot of other people have touched such as while shopping, after playing with toys or on the playground, etc.

This new year I’m choosing Dial Complete Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash because it kills 99.99% of germs while being tough on germs but gentle on skin. That’s a must for my family full of people with dry and sensitive skin. Plus the fun foamy soap keeps kids and adults alike interested in scrubbing up!

Use hand sanitizer when you can’t wash. Hand washing is always the best choice, but if you can’t wash, use hand sanitizer.  After the greeting time at church my family passes a bottle of hand sanitizer down the pew.

Stock up before you get sick.

Go ahead and buy everything you need to prevent illness right now, but also grab a few products that will soothe an illness so you don’t have to run out at the first sign of runny nose or sore throat.

I just found Vicks VapoCool Drops for the first time, and I’m in love! These medicated drops give cooking relief with the awesome rush of Vicks Vapors. If your throat gets sore or scratchy thanks to dry weather and illness, you need these on hand!

Eat healthy foods.

Buy healthy foods, such as fruits and veggies, that will give your family the nutrients they need to give their bodies energy to fight off illness.

Don’t forget to take care of your digestive track and gut!

Align Dualbiotic Gummies support a healthy gut. They taste great and contain a prebiotic fiber that helps nourish good bacteria in your digestive system. Plus you can feel good about them because they contain less than 1 gram of sugar per gummy and are naturally flavored too.

Metamucil contains 100% natural psyllium fiber which helps keep your digestive tract healthy, plus it helps control your appetite by keeping you feeling less hungry between meals.

Exercise often.

Get your family active to keep their bodies in top shape! Try to find an activity the whole family enjoys, such as riding bicycles or going hiking!

Get adequate rest.

Remind your kids that they need sleep for their bodies to stay healthy! Mom, don’t forget that you need sleep too.
