How to make a Grinch Buttercream Charcuterie Board for Christmas

Supplies and Ingredients:

Choose a serving plate or board for your dessert charcuterie. I used this disposable 13 x 10 Palm Leaf platter. You could also use a glass or ceramic platter, a slate, or a wooden cutting board.

Next, you’ll need 3 piping bags and tips.

Make or buy your favorite vanilla icing. You’ll need about a cup of icing.

Put the icing in a piping bag with a #1a icing tip. You’ll need the large coupler for this tip, as its bigger than a typical decorating tip.

You’ll also need to tint about half of a cup of the white icing yellow. Place the yellow icing in a piping bag with a small round tip. I used a #5, but any small round detail tip will work.

You’ll need about 1/4 a cup of chocolate icing for the face details. I simply added some unsweetened chocolate powder to my vanilla icing to create this step.

(You can buy pre-made cookie icing, or writing gel for this portion of your Grinch, if you prefer.)

Then gather items to make the Grinch details. You’ll want a small carton of fresh strawberries, and a handful of mini marshmallows.

You’ll also need a small candy for the Grinch nose. I used an M&M

Next choose your dippers. The options for dippers is endless! Pick out a few different cookies, fruit, candies, donuts, and brownies for dipping. We used mini brownies, festive pretzels, Christmas candies, powdered donuts and vanilla wafers.

How to assemble your Grinch Dessert Charcuterie Board

Before getting started on the tray, go ahead and wash your strawberries. Leave them in a strainer to dry before beginning to create the Grinch on your board.

Use the green icing to create the Grinch’s face. Draw a shape similar to the one below. It’s like the sides of a heart for his cheeks, and a semi circle above for his forehead.

Fill the inside of the shape with icing, then use a small spatula or spreader to smooth the icing.

Next place a candy in the center of the Grinch’s face for his nose. You could use a dollop of chocolate icing instead.

Use the yellow icing to pipe eyes just above the nose.

Use the chocolate icing to create a mouth, eyebrows, and eyeballs.

Cut the green caps off of the strawberries, then slice them in half.

Lay the strawberries on the tray in the shape of a Santa hat. Be sure to lean the tip over to one side to create the slouched look of the Grinch’s hat.

Next, place a handful of mini marshmallows just under the hat to create the white fluff.
Also place a few of the marshmallows at the tip of the hat.

Now, fill your tray with fun dippers and festive desserts!
