Make these Uncle Sam Patriotic puppets with your elementary schoolers in preparation for all the patriotic holidays this summer. This red, white, and blue craft can be used for play, or even for holiday decoration!

How to make a Gnome Uncle Sam Puppet

Supplies

  • Colored craft papers
  • Printed template sheet
  • A pair of scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil –  to trace the template
  • Markers

Instructions:

Download and print out the Uncle Sam Gnome template sheet. Cut out all of the pattern pieces.

Select white, red, blue and pink colored craft papers for the 4th of July Gnome pattern.

Trace the patterns on the selected craft papers and cut them out nicely.

Glue the white stripe cutouts on the crown of the hat.

Attach the star cutouts on the blue band cutout.

Glue the blue band onto the hat.

Cut a slit on the red part of the hat, just beside the bottom edge of the blue band.

Glue the beard cutout onto the head.

Glue the nose onto the mustache cutout.

Insert the head into the slit and secure it with some glue.

Glue the the mustache and nose onto the beard.

Glue the shoe cutouts along the bottom edge of the clothing cutout.

Glue the star cutout on the small blue square cutout.

Glue the stripe cutouts on the big rectangle cutout to make the paper flag.

Glue the small rectangle on the big rectangle and then glue the small strip along a edge to complete the flag part of the craft.

Glue the gnome head onto the gnome body to complete the Uncle Sam Gnome.

Add a popsicle stick to the back of the gnome if you’d like to have an Uncle Sam puppet.
