How to make a Santa Gnome Christmas Ornament

Supplies:

  • Felt fabrics
  • Matching thread
  • Needle
  • Pencil
  • A pair of scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Cotton batting
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the template page. Cut out the patterns neatly.

Select colored felt fabrics for the Santa ornament and trace the patterns on the selected felts. Cut out the traced felt pieces.

Take the belt and the buckle cutouts. Cut slits along 2 opposite sides of the buckle cutouts.

Insert the belt through the slits to make the belt pattern.

Place the mustache cutout on top of the beard cutout.

Place the nose cutout on top of the mustache cutout.

Make 2 or 3 stitches on the top edge of the nose to attach the beard, mustache and nose together.

Place the hat border along the bottom edge of the hat cutout.

Take the base cutout and place the hat pattern on the top part and then place the beard piece, on the base, just under the edge of the hat.

Place the shirt cutout on the bottom part of the base, under the beard.

Carefully remove the stack of hat, beard and shirt you just created away from the base.

Use white thread to stitch the edges of the hat border, making sure to stitch through the hat, beard, and shirt.

Lift the beard and stitch the belt to the shirt using black thread.

Now, place Santa on top of the base. Use matching thread to sew the base and front together around the sides- be sure to leave a small opening for stuffing.

Stuff the gnome and then close the open edge when you’re done stuffing.

Tie a knot or two and then cut off extra thread.

Stitch the shoe cutouts on the bottom edge of Santa’s body and stitch the round pompom shape on the tip of his hat.

Cut out a small piece of ribbon and make a loop with it. Sew the ribbon loop on the backside of the Santa gnome to complete the Santa Gnome Ornament.
