Stress Free Tips for One Stop Shopping

As a single mom of 6 kids, shopping can be very stressful for a whole lot of reasons.

I learned long ago that hoping to shop at two different stores in one day made for whiny children and a miserable Mama. If my shopping list included food, household items, and clothing I knew I would have to shop on three different days or, if that wasn’t possible resign myself to the fact that it would be a difficult day.

One Stop Shopping

I find the only answer to shopping well with children and also within a strict budget to be one-stop shopping!

Between a strict budget and the logistics of shopping with 6 children, one-stop shopping and affordability are the most important factors for me when I shop.

Especially now that I have teenagers, I also need to consider style when I am shopping for apparel. Just grabbing a t-shirt from any old big box store while I’m also buying groceries will no longer cut it. That’s why my whole family loves shopping at BJ’s Wholesale Club! Finally, one-stop shopping that includes the latest trends in clothing!

My teens love shopping for their clothes at BJ’s. These two outfits were their latest summer choices while shopping at BJ’s.  Actually, I can shop for my whole family’s clothes at BJ’s since they carry an expanded selection of kids’ sizes!

Whether we need athletic wear, church clothes, swimsuits, or new shoes, it’s all there at BJ’s!

Make a list.

Keep a running list at home with all the things your family needs from food to clothing. That way you won’t end up forgetting something while shopping and requiring a second trip to shop in the same week.

One-stop warehouses are often very big. Organize your list by type- food, clothing, household items, etc so you won’t have to backtrack through the store many times.

Stretch your budget.

Shopping at BJ’s naturally stretches your budget since your family can save up to $500 a year with the best values of any supermarket or club with 25% off grocery store prices.

Clip coupons to save even more money. BJ’s is the only membership warehouse that accepts manufacturer’s coupons, so you know you are definitely getting the very best price possible!

Consider your children’s schedule

Maybe you prefer to shop in the afternoon, after you’ve (hopefully) had time to shower, but your shopping trip then runs into nap time. You’ll have a much better shopping trip if you figure out the ideal time to shop with your kids. When are they the most calm during the day?

Get your kids on board.

Even with the best prices and a one-stop shop, you’ll still be wrangling those kids while you shop.

Get your kids involved, whether by reading the list and checking items off, or if they are non readers, give them specific items to ‘search’ for as you shop.  If your children will need new clothing or shoes while shopping, get them excited about their choices and save that part of the shopping trip for last so they have something to look forward to.

Isn’t this athletic wear that Miriam chose adorable? I love the legging detail so much, I think I’ll be wearing them as much as she will!

I absolutely love BJ’s for all my shopping needs from groceries, to household items, to books, and clothing and I know you will too! Shopping at BJ’s can save your family up to $500 a year with the best values of any supermarket or club with 25% off grocery store prices, plus its the only membership warehouse that accepts manufacturer’s coupons!
