Sunflower Craft for Kids
Summer is winding down and fall is on the way- that means ALL things sunflowers! Let’s make another sunflower craft today.
I’m obsessed with sunflower crafts, and these adorable paper sunflowers might just be my favorite!
The best thing about this craft, is that it’s easy enough for young kids to complete, while being so cute even older kids and tweens will also want to make a sunflower!
Maybe make a garden of paper sunflowers to brighten your home. Wouldn’t a bouquet of these sunflowers be an adorable gift for a grandparent? Simply “plant” several in a little pot for beautiful sunflowers that will never need watering!
How to make a Sunflower Craft

- Craft glue
- Pencil – to trace the template
- Markers
- Template
Instructions:
Download and print out the sunflower template. Cut out all of the sunflower pattern pieces.
Select 2 different shades of yellow colored craft papers for the petals, green paper for the leaf and brown for the center of the flower.
Trace and cut out 8 large petals and 8 small petals out of the yellow paper, along with two leaves from green paper, a center base in yellow and center twirl in a brown shade.
Fold each of the petal cutouts in half as shown below to create a crease in the petal.
Take the base cutout and apply 4 drop of glue on each edge as shown below.
Take 4 large petals and place them on the base cutout where the glue was applied.
Glue the remaining four large petals between the first four petals.
Now, glue the 8 small petals around the center of the base, overlapping as shown below.
Fold the leaf in half and then make thin accordion folds on the leaf.
Unfold and your creases will look like veins on the leaves.
Take the spiral piece and start coiling it from its outer edge.
Coil it all the way to the center and secure the coiled part to the center using craft glue.
Glue the coiled spiral piece in the center of the paper sunflower.
Take a popsicle stick and apply green paint on it. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Alternatively you can use a green popsicle stick, or color a popsicle stick with a marker.
Attach the paper sunflower on a side of the popsicle stick and attach the leaves below the flower, on the popsicle stick.
