Let’s Make a Craft Stick Frog!

Now that you’re excited to create your own frog popsicle stick craft, let’s dive into the step-by-step tutorial. You’ll find that the process is simple enough for younger children to enjoy while still engaging for older kids.

Materials:

  • Jumbo Wooden Craft Sticks
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Craft Paint – Light Green, Medium Green, & Pink
  • Green Craft Foam
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks (or your favorite craft glue)
  • Sponge Dabber
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors 
  • Permanent Marker
  • Printed Frog Pattern

Instructions:

Gather all supplies. To create the Frog, line up four jumbo craft sticks on your work surface.

Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Frog and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks.

TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

Paint the front and sides of the jumbo craft sticks with medium green craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Attach two wiggle eyes to the Frog face with glue so that they are half way off the top of the craft sticks.

Create cheeks by dipping a sponge dabber into pink craft paint and stamping on either side of the face. 

Paint a long semi-circle to create the Frog’s tummy using light green craft paint.

Create polka dots, by dipping a new pencil eraser into light green craft paint and stamping randomly on the Frog.

Download and print the Craft Stick Frog Patterns, then cut out with scissors

Trace the legs twice onto green craft foam. Cut out with scissors making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.

Attach the legs to the left and right-hand side of the front of the Frog with glue.

You could also use colored cardstock or craft felt instead of foam for this project.

Trace the eyes once onto green craft foam. Cut out with scissors making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.

Attach the eyes to the back of the wiggle eyes on the front of the Frog with glue.

To finish, draw a smile with a permanent marker from cheek to cheek to create the Frog’s mouth.

Add detail to the legs with a permanent marker.

Now your frog is all finished!
