How to Make a DIY Felt Lemon

Supplies:

  • Felt fabrics
  • Matching threads
  • Needle
  • Pencil or fabric marker or chalk
  • A pair of scissors
  • Cotton batting or scrap felt
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the felt lemon template. You’ll find an option for two different sized lemons on the pattern template. You can choose one size to create, or make both! Cut out the pattern pieces in the sizes you’ve chosen.

Select a colored felt fabric for the lemon, green for the leaf patterns, white for the flower and yellow or orange felt for the center of the flower. Use white felt for the crescent shape. Trace the patterns on the selected felt fabrics and then cut them out nicely using a pair of scissors.

Place the small round cutout in the center of the flower cutout.

Overlap the leaves at the bottom.

Place the crest shape cutout on the outer edge of a lemon base cutout.

Stitch the crescent shape to the lemon base.

Place the plain lemon base on your work surface. Place the overlapped leaves on to of the plain base.

Then place the lemon base with the crescent shape on top of the plain base, sandwiching the leaves between the two lemon bases.

Now, place the flower on the top of the lemon and leaves.

Prepare needle with thread that matches the center of the flower.

Work a cross stitch in the flower center and make sure to stitch the overlapped parts of the leaves along with it.

Now prepare the needle with thread that matches the lemon base.

Stitch along the sides of the lemon bases, being sure to leave an opening to stuff later. We’re did flat blanket stitches around the sides.

Stuff the felt lemon pattern with cotton batting or scrap felt.

Close the open end by stitching it neatly. Tie a knot or two and then cut off extra thread.
