How to Make a Nativity Ornament with Felt
List of Supplies:
- Felt fabrics
- Fabric marker or chalk
- A pair of scissors
- Needle
- Matching threads
- Ribbon
- Printed template
Instructions:
Download and print out the felt nativity template. Cut out the pattern pieces.
Select different colored felt fabrics of your choice.
Trace the patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut out the traced patterns using a pair of sharp scissors.
Take the stable base and border. Place the border cutout on top of the base cutout.
Place the star cutout on the top edge of the stable.
Use matching thread to sew along the border and the star cutout, to join all three pieces together.
Take the Mary and Joseph figures’ head, hair, and beard cutouts.
Place the hair cutouts on top of the head cutouts. Also, place the beard cutout on the bottom edge of Joseph’s face.
Place the headscarf cutouts on top of the body base cutouts.
Now, place the heads on top of the scarves.
Place the head cutout on the base cutout of the baby Jesus figure.
Place the assembled Joseph figure on one side of the stable base.
Use matching thread to sew along the sides of the figure. Stitch the hair and beard cutouts with matching thread as well.
Place the assembled Mary figure beside the Joseph figure, on the stable base.
Similarly, sew the Mary figure to the base, being sure to also sew her face and hair onto the ornament.
Place the baby Jesus on Mary’s lap and sew it to the ornament. Be sure to sew the face on the ornament as well.
Sew a ribbon loop on the top edge of the felt nativity craft to complete the ornament.
