Dr. Seuss Bookmark – Thing 1 & Thing 2 Craft

Dr. Seuss Week is just around the corner! It’s time to start planning all the fun Dr Seuss acitivites to celebrate the week.

These Thing 1 & Thing 2 bookmarks are so adorable for celebrating Seuss week! Your kids can enjoy making their Seuss bookmark craft, and then place the Thing bookmarks in their favorite Seuss book!

These Thing bookmarks would also be used as puppets for Seuss week. Simply glue a craft stick behind the bodies of Thing 1 & Thing 2, then have your kids act out scenes from The Cat in the Hat.

Thing 1 & Thing 2: How to Make Seuss Bookmarks

Supplies:

  • Colored paper – construction paper, craft paper, or card stock
  • Glue
  • Black marker or pen
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Printable Template

Directions:

Step -1:

Print out the template and cut out all the template pieces.

Choose blue, red and white papers for the Thing 1 and Thing 2 bookmarks. Trace the hair patterns on to blue paper.

Trace the legs, arms and body pieces onto red paper.

Trace the head and small circle onto white paper.

Cut out all of the traced pieces with scissors.

Glue the smaller hair piece onto of the larger hair piece, matching the pieces along the straight edge.

Use a black marker to write ‘Thing 1’ or ‘Thing 2’ on the small round circle. Attach the Thing label on the red body piece.

Now, glue the head onto the hair piece.

Use glue to attach the legs to the bottom of the body. Be sure to glue the legs on behind the body piece.

Glue the arm pieces onto the body by gluing them just being the body piece. Be sure to keep the hands and bottom part of the arms free of glue.

Glue the Thing’s head onto his body.

Use a black pen or marker to draw the face of your Things, as shown below.

Slide a page under the arms of your Thing bookmark to mark your place in your favorite Seuss book.
