How to Make Animal Origami Bookmarks

Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • A pair of scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Markers
  • Printed pattern

Instructions: 

Download and print the pattern. Cut out the pattern pieces.

Select colored craft papers for the koala, panda and red panda patterns.

Use orange, pink and cream or white craft papers for the red panda; white, black or dark grey and pink craft papers for the panda; and grey, black and pink craft papers for the koala pattern.

Let’s start with the panda bookmark.

Trace the panda patterns on the selected craft papers from the provided template. Use scissors to cut them out nicely.

Trace and cut out the head base from white paper.

Attach the inner ear cutouts on the outer ear cutouts.

Then attach them on the sides of the head base as shown below.

Use a marker to fill the eye cutouts.

Attach the eyes on the eye patch cutouts.

Attach the eye patch pieces on the head base, just below the ears.

Use a marker to draw the nose and mouth.

Attach the blush cutouts on the cheek parts of the head base.

Take a piece of square sheet (15cm x 15cm).

Fold the sheet in half, diagonally.

Fold the right bottom point upwards so the right corner touch the top center corner.

Fold up the left side the same way so it also touches the top center corner.

Unfold the left and right folds.

Fold the top corner of only the top layer in half downwards to touch the straight bottom edge. This will form a pocket.

Fold up the right side along the previous crease.

Fold in the top-open half of the right side inside the pocket.

Similarly, fold up the left side and fold the top-open half of it inside the pocket.

Attach the panda head on the triangle side of the origami bookmark.

Allow the glue to dry before using the panda corner bookmark.
