How to make Grinch Strawberries

Supplies:

Directions:

Remove the hull from the strawberries. Pat them dry on a paper towel, so that the candy melts will better stick to the strawberries.

Melt green candy melts according to the package instructions.

Insert a cake pop or lollipop stick into the pointy end of each strawberry, and then dip the flat end of the strawberry into the melted green candy.

*Only dip about ⅓ of the strawberry into the melted candy.

Immediately dip into the green sugar sprinkles.

Remove the cake pop/lollipop stick, and place the coated strawberries on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper to set for a few minutes.

While the strawberries are setting, place a #18 open star decorating tip into a frosting piping bag, and cut the tip with kitchen shears.

Fill the bag with white frosting of your choice, and pipe small stars all the way around the border of where the green candy/sprinkles meets the strawberries.

*We used Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Cream Cheese Frosting, but you could use vanilla frosting, or homemade frosting as well.

Pipe one small star on the tip of the strawberries.

Dip a toothpick into the frosting bag, and dot a small amount on the back of a red heart shaped sprinkle, and attach to the green sprinkles on each of the strawberries.

Serve immediately, or keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

Tips for making Chocolate Covered Grinch Strawberries

If you don’t have a piping bag or #18 open star tip, substitute a quart size ziplock baggie, and just cut the tip with kitchen shears. Create small dots instead of stars on your strawberries.

Working with strawberries that are room temperature is the best way to make these Grinch strawberries. Cold strawberries released more liquid, and make it harder to get the melted candy to adhere.

These can be kept for up to two days in the refrigerator, but they are so tasty, they probably won’t last that long!
