How to make Twine Pumpkins

Supplies:

  • Styrofoam Balls – we used one small, one medium, and one large
  • Natural Jute Twine
  • Orange Jute Twine
  • Green Gingham Ribbon
  • Wooden Stems
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – or your favorite craft adhesive
  • Scissors

Instructions:

Press each foam ball firmly on a flat surface to flatten the bottom.

Select a wood stem for each foam balls.

Gently push the wood stems into the top of the foam balls.

Remove the wood stem and glue the end of the orange jute twine in the hole.

Place the stem back in the hole.

Apply a line of glue from a glue gun around the base of the wood stem and secure the orange twine to the foam ball. Use the tip of your scissors to hold the twine in place until the glue cools.

Working in small areas, continue to add glue and orange twine around the foam ball.

Cut and secure the end of the twine at the flat bottom of the small foam ball with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Now you’ll repeat the above steps for other pumpkins you wish to create.

You can also use natural jute twine for the pumpkins.

Follow the same steps to create each pumpkin.

Measure and cut green gingham ribbon into 8” lengths.

Tie the ribbon into bows.

Attach the gingham bows to the wood stems with a glue gun and glue stick. Trim any long ribbon ends with scissors.

You can make lots of interesting pumpkins by changing the colors and sizes of your Twine Foam Ball Pumpkins.
