Summer Gnome Craft

This adorable summer garden gnome craft is sure to brighten up your summer decor. You can simply sit the gnome up in a window sill, or make into a magnet, plant stake, keychain for ornament.
Simply glue a magnet to the back for an adorable refrigerator magnet. Sew a slender dowl rod or popsicle stick to the back for a plant stake. To make an ornament make a loop of thread or ribbon and sew it between the layers of the hat as you stitch the gnome together. Or make it a keychain by sewing a carabiner or key ring to the back.
How to make a Felt Summer Gnome
Supplies:
- Felt fabric
- Needle and thread
- Cotton batting
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Template
Instructions:
Print out and cut out all of the summer gnome template pieces.
Select different fun summer inspired colors for the felt gnome plushie.
Trace and cut out the patterns from the chosen felt fabrics.
Take the flowers, leaves and the hat cutout. Place the small round yellow cutouts in the center of the flower cutouts.
Arrange the leaves and the flowers on the hat cutout. Stitch the leaves and flowers on the hat with an “x” in the center of each circle.
Place the mustache along the top of the beard and then place the nose cutout near the top of the mustache.
Use a thread that matches the nose, and stitch the nose, mustache and beard together with 1 or 2 stitches on the top of the nose.
Take the body and the hat pieces. Place the hat piece on the hat shape of the body cutout. Stitch the hat only around the outer sides.
Place the beard piece on the body, sliding it just under the hat’s bottom edge.
Stitch the bottom edge of the hat and the beard together. Be sure not to stitch through the gnome’s body.
Place the shoes along the bottom edge of the body.
Stuff the hat with cotton batting through the open edge.
Place the gnome’s shirt under the beard. Stitch around the sides of the shirt to attach it, but leave a small opening for stuffing.
Stitch the open edge to secure the stuffing.Tie off the thread, then cut off extra thread if needed.
