How to make a Cat in the Hat Bookmark

List of Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • Craft glue
  • Marker or gel pen
  • A pair of scissors
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the Cat in the Hat template. Cut out all of the pattern pieces.

Select white, black and red colored craft papers for the Cat in the Hat bookmark craft.

Trace the template pieces on the selected craft papers. Cut out the traced bookmark pieces.

Use a pencil to draw the face onto the cat.

Glue the red strips on the hat base cutout, horizontally. 

Use a black gel pen or fine marker to trace the pencil outlines to complete the face of the Cat.

Also trace a thin outline on the bow-tie cutout.

Add an outline and details to the hat piece as well.

Use a fine marker or pen to trace a thin outline on the head pattern.

Attach the bow-tie below the head piece. Be sure to glue the bow just behind the Cat’s head.

Attach the hat to the top of the Cat’s head.

Use a piece of square paper (15 cm x 15 cm) to make an origami corner bookmark. Learn how to fold the origami bookmark here if you don’t already know how to make one.

Attach the Cat in the Hat’s head onto the square side of the origami corner bookmark.

Allow the glue to dry and then you can use the bookmark.
