How to Make a Deer Bookmark

List of Supplies:

  • Felt fabrics
  • Matching threads
  • Needle
  • Pencil or fabric marker or chalk
  • A pair of scissors
  • Cotton or scrap felt
  • Printed template

Instructions:

Download and print out the corner bookmark template. Cut out the pattern pieces.

Select felt fabrics for this craft.

Trace the patterns on the selected felt fabrics and then cut them out nicely using a pair of scissors.

Take the lower part of the face and stitch the nose cutout in the middle of it. Use a fabric marker to draw the eyes onto the felt deer on the face cutout.

Stitch along the traced eye lines using black thread.

Stitch the inner ear parts on the head cutout.

Place the horn cutouts behind the head at the top of the deer’s head.

Place the spots on the top of the head, overlapping the horn cutouts you placed underneath the head.

Stitch the spots onto the deer’s head. Be sure to also stitch through the horns when you sew the spots.

Place the lower face piece at the bottom edge of the head.

Place the back felt piece of the bookmark behind the deer’s head.

Align the face, head and back piece of the bookmark along their straight sides. Prepare a needle with white thread.

Stitch the 3 layers together using white thread. We did flat blanket stitches for the sides.

Keep the top, rounded edge open.

When you are finished secure the stitching by tying a knot or two and then cut off extra thread.

Place a page in between the layers to use your deer as a bookmark.
