How to Make a Moving Outer Space Craft

Supplies:

  • Colored craft papers
  • Colored cardstock paper
  • Pencil
  • Brad pin
  • Craft glue
  • A pair of scissors
  • Markers
  • Template

Instructions:

Download and print out the moving outer space template.

Cut out the template pattern pieces.

Select colored craft papers for the paper items and trace the template patterns using a pencil. Cut out the traced patterns neatly.

Glue the green parts on the blue earth base.

Use markers to trace outlines on the pieces of land..

Attach the tail cutouts to the meteor pattern. Use markers to add texture to the meteor cutout.

Attach the meteor on to the tail piece.

Next, let’s make the rocket.

Glue the nose cone cutout to the top of the rocket body.

Glue the window to the rocket base and glue the fire to the tail piece of the rocket.

Glue the wings and tail to the rocket to complete the rocket.

Next make the satellite.

Glue the solar panels to the strip cutout.

Attach the base cutouts and the antenna cutouts.

Attach the solar panel pieces to the back edge of the base piece.

Attach the short strip to the straight side of the antenna cutout.

Attach the antenna piece to the base to complete the satellite. 

Use markers to add textures to the moon cutout.

Trace and cut out a round shape from cardstock paper for the space background piece. You can also use a paper plate for this step if you’d rather.

You can add detail to space with markers, crayons, or paint.

Cut 3 strips out of sturdy paper, that can reach from the center of the circle to the outer edge of the space paper.

Punch holes in the end of each strip. Insert a brad pin through the holes to connect them.

Insert the open end of the brad pin through the center of the space background.

Attach the moon, rocket, satellite, or meteor patterns to the open ends of the attached strips to complete the moving outer space craft.
