How to Make a DIY Felt Fruit Slice Bookmark

Follow our step-by-step tutorial below to make your very own felt fruit slice bookmark. This easy DIY felt craft requires only felt, thread, and scissors, and we’ve even included a free printable template to help you get started!

Supplies:

  • Colorful felt fabrics
  • Pencil
  • A pair of scissors
  • Needle
  • Matching threads
  • Printed template

Instructions:

Download and print out the fruit slice template. Cut out the pattern pieces.

Select different shades of colored felt fabrics of your choice for the fruit slice bookmark.

The template includes patterns for a citrus and a watermelon slice. Trace the template patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut them out nicely using scissors.

*Each bookmark needs two of the curved triangle pieces.

Take the inner part of the watermelon slice and place the seed cutouts on the slice. (Alternately, you can embroider the seeds on.)

Now, place the inner slice of the watermelon on a base slice and prepare a needle with black thread. Stitch the seeds with cross stitches through the pink and the green layers.

Place the other bookmark base on a flat surface and place the stitched watermelon slice on top.

Stitch along the straight sides to connect the bases. Keep the round edge opener sliding on a page.
Once both straight sides have been stitched, tie 2 tight knots and cut off extra thread.

Now, take the citrus cutouts and place the slices on a base cutout. Use matching thread to stitch the slices to the base.

Stitch the border to the top of the base. Place the stitched slice on top of a plain slice.
Stitch the straight edges of the two bases to connect this just as we did for the watermelon bookmark.

This DIY Felt Fruit Slice Bookmark is a fun and creative way to bring a pop of color to your reading routine. Whether you make one for yourself or as a gift, these cute fruit bookmarks are sure to be a hit!
